The short version: this is a one-person hobby site. Be kind to it, keep a backup weather source, and enjoy.
OKStormWatch is independently built and run as a family project — for family, friends, and a small crowd of invited weather watchers. Every account is personally reviewed before approval. That's deliberate: it's what keeps the site fast, friendly, and spam-free.
You don't purchase or own an account here — think of it as a key to the guest house. I may suspend or remove any account at any time, with or without notice, and without owing a reason. I've never had to, and I'd like to keep that streak going. The practical things that would end a stay: abusing the service, scraping or hammering the server, sharing logins, or anything that puts alert delivery for everyone else at risk.
Normal personal use is the whole intent — your dashboard, your saved locations, your notifications. Please don't automate bulk requests against it, probe it for weaknesses, resell access, or use it for anything unlawful.
I take the data seriously: readings are cross-checked against official sources around the clock, and when something slips through anyway (it happens), it gets found and fixed fast. But this must never be your only severe-weather source. Keep NOAA Weather Radio, local broadcast, or the official NWS channels in your toolkit. I built this site for my own family — and we still keep backups too. During a warning, follow the official guidance first and check the dashboard second.
Spot something that looks wrong? Have an idea? The Feedback link in the footer of every dashboard page comes straight to me, and I read everything.
That's it. Please enjoy the site — that's why it exists.
